St. John Catholic High School Nutrition Program

The St. John High School Nutrition Program is run by an enthusiastic group of staff, students and community volunteers. In partnership with “Food For Thought,” this program provides healthy Breakfast, Snack and Lunch options for our students.  All students are welcome to participate, free of charge in the Nutrition Program.

In addition to providing healthy food choices the Nutrition Program also helps students to develop Healthy Eating habits through Nutrition Education in the classroom.  Outside the classroom, students are encouraged to participate in a variety of programs and activities including helping with the daily operations of the Nutrition program, and food preparation

SNACK PROGRAM

The Snack Program consists of healthy food items which include: apples, oranges, cereal, fruit cups, yogurt, cheese and carrots.

LUNCH PROGRAM

Brown-bag lunches are available for students who require a lunch. Lunch items include: whole wheat cheese sandwiches, fruit cups, and yogurt.

BREAKFAST PROGRAM

The breakfast program operates daily out of the High School and Intermediate Student Resource Rooms from 8:03-8:45. Breakfast includes: whole wheat bagels, muffins, milk, juice, cereal, fruit and yogurt.

Celebrating Nutrition Month with the Metro Green Apple Grant

Students in grade seven cooked up healthy food choices ( Black Bean Brownies and Lentil Soup) with the help of the Metro Green Apple Grant. The goal of the Green Apple School Program is to encourage Ontario students to adopt healthy eating habits by participating in a project that will have a positive impact on their home, school or community.
