St. John Catholic High School is once again recognized as a global leader in successful integration of technology with teaching and learning. Last September the school was first recognized as a Microsoft Showcase School and continues to do so this year.
PERTH, ONTARIO – SEPTEMBER 8, 2016 – ST. JOHN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL was selected by Microsoft as a 2016-2017 Microsoft Showcase School for their excellence in transforming their learning environment to deliver more personalized education to students. They are also recognized for using mobile and cloud technology to better prepare students for success in the workplace.
St. John Catholic High School joins an exclusive community of more than 850 schools from around the world, recognized to celebrate their pioneering efforts and innovation in rethinking teaching, learning and assessment in order to drive deep 21st century competencies.
Throughout the school students are integrating Office 365 applications such as OneNote into their everyday workflows, and developing their virtual collaboration skills with their peers. The creation of the St. John Student Technology Leadership team in 2015 has empowered students to find new and innovative ways to learn and share their work with others.
“It has been the passion of our teachers and staff, as well as the enthusiasm and drive of our students that have created the best leaning environments possible,” said Mr. John Healey, principal at St. John Catholic High School. “We look forward to sharing our experiences with other schools in our community and continuing to find innovative ways to equip our students with the proper tools needed for success inside and outside of the classroom.”
As a Showcase School, St. John will work closely with Microsoft to lead innovation in education and communicate a vision for education enabled by technology through the hosting and mentoring of other schools in the community on transformational educational practices.

As well as being recognized on a global scale for their innovative approach to educating tomorrow’s workforce, St. John Catholic High School will receive additional collaboration opportunities with other schools around the world, access to professional development opportunities, invitations to exclusive events, access to Microsoft Innovative Educators Experts (MIE Experts) on staff to help drive innovation and to support staff, peers and students, and more.
