“Student Vote” The grade 8 students hosted this year’s Student Vote.
Students in grades 7/8 placed their ballots for candidates in the Municipality of Perth on October 19th.
Student Vote is a hands-on learning program that brings democracy into the classroom and helps foster the habits of active and engaged citizenship.
Students learn about government and the electoral process, and research the issues, parties and candidates through classroom activities and media consumption. On Student Vote Day, students cast ballots for the official election candidates running in their school’s electoral district.
Student Vote is the flagship program of CIVIX, Canada’s leading civic education charity. The Student Vote project for the 2018 provincial election was made possible by Elections Ontario.
