Teacher

Announcement

Ms. Michaud

On Wednesday September 27th, all students in CDSBEO and across Ontario, will commemorate Rowan’s Law Day. It is a day dedicated to concussion awareness.

Have you ever bumped your head playing sports, playing outside with your friends, or even just getting out of bed in the morning? Sometimes, a bump to the head can hurt your brain and your head will need special care and time to rest. If you bump your head, or know of a friend who has, it is very important to SPEAK UP! Tell a parent/guardian, teacher, or coach so that they can make sure you get the proper care.

Let us make sure that on, Wednesday September 27th, we honor Rowan Stringer in our schools by having discussions about concussions; their signs/symptoms and possible effects because the more we know about concussions, the more we will be able to prevent serious injuries related to concussions.

Boisvert

Today, we celebrate la journée franco-ontarienne! The Franco-Ontarian flag was raised for the first time september 25, 1975 at the University of Sudbury and became the official symbol of the province in 2001. The flag represents the cultural, historical, the community and identity of all French-speaking people of Ontario called francophones or of people speaking French as a second language, called francophiles, just like most of you students of St. John catholic school.

The flag has 2 distinct colours, le vert et le blanc. Le vert represents the summer months et le blanc represents the winter months. The green trillium flower represents Ontario and the white lily also known as the fleur-de-lys represents the French-speaking people around the world. The French language has been spoken in Ontario for almost 420 years.

To celebrate the day, you are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt for green and white strips of paper posted in our school’s hallways. These green and white strips of paper represent 60 communities of Ontario where you’ll find a considerable number of French-speaking people. Take a picture of each name that you find from today to Wednesday and upload them in the OneDrive folder using the QR code posted throughout the school. The three students with the most communities found will win a prize.

Bonne journée franco-ontarienne à vous tous et bonne chance!
